Challenge
Appointment no-shows sat at 23%. The old app was a wrapper around a booking form, and 8 in 10 patients called reception instead of using it.
Strategy
We followed 14 patients for a fortnight and found the real job: knowing what happens next. The app was re-centred on a single timeline of upcoming care.
Design direction
A calm, high-contrast interface with one accent reserved exclusively for time-critical actions, plus a 24pt minimum type scale for older patients.
Build
React Native with a shared design token layer, offline-first appointment cache and HL7/FHIR sync to the hospital record system.
Launch
Rolled out clinic by clinic with in-waiting-room onboarding and printed cards for patients without smartphones.
